This year has been nothing short of heartbreaking, to say the least. But you don’t know disappointment until you have both of your laptops and phone set to the Telfar site in the hopes of nabbing its famous Shopping Bag as soon as it drops, only to be met with a “sold out” messages within seconds. Telfar Clemmons, the mastermind behind the brand and its covetable bag, has heard our cries and is giving customers one day only to secure any bag, in any color we want.

On Wednesday, August 19, Telfar will introduce its Bag Security Program. For 24 hours, customers will be able to pre-order a bag of choice and it will be delivered sometime before January 15. Not only does this ensure loyal customers will finally get a bag, but the new made-to-order system eliminates unnecessary mass productions.

It’s safe to say the Telfar Bag Security Program is the brand’s response to the increase in bots and resellers. Recently, Telfar restocks have been marred by a rush of consumers who purchase several bags and then resell them for $500 or more. But as the brand explained in its recent Instagram post, “we are not about hype and scarcity. The whole point of our bag is accessibility and community. But when thousands of bags sell per second we can’t even know how many to make. We plan production 6 months in advance. It takes time and money to make bags and we are 100% self financed.”

That’s not to say Telfar won’t still be doing its regular drops. The brand will continue to release certain colors between now and January. The label’s next restock will include its bubblegum pink, olive, and orange bags in small and medium and is set to be released August 18. Read more about how to secure your Telfar bag here.
