The Telluride Horror Show Kicks Off This Week From October 15-18

The Telluride Horror Show‘s “Shelter-in-Place” Edition kicks off this week, running from October 15-18.

From the press release, “The festival welcomes actor Ted Raimi, who will host “Deathly Spirits”, a virtual cocktail hour offering viewers an opportunity to mix Ted’s drink recipes and engage with the genre favorite after the screening of his new short film “Red Light”. In addition, Telluride Horror Show alum and Colorado filmmakers Daniel Goldhaber and Isa Mazzei (Cam, 2018 Official Selection) will return to the festival with “Red Rum” (starring Christina Ricci) and a conversation about their Colorado episode for Sam Raimi’s “50 States of Fright”.

“The 2020 “Shelter-in-Place” Edition will also feature Brandon Cronenberg’s Possessor Uncut, a NEON release and one of the most anticipated films of the year. This special screening will close out the festival on Sunday, October 18th at 7pm MST.

“With a few exceptions, most programs will be on-demand for the entire four days, so viewers can build their own at-home festival experiences. Viewers are encouraged to plan accordingly for scheduled events, including the Live Conversation with Max Brooks & Daniel Kraus, Deathly Spirits with Ted Raimi, 50 States of Fright: Red Rum + Live Conversation with Daniel Goldhaber & Isa Mazzei, and Fright or Wrong: Horror Trivia.”

Max Brooks is the author of World War Z, The Zombie Survival Guide, Minecraft: The Island, and Devolution: A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre. His graphic novels include GI Joe: Hearts and Minds, The Extinction Parade, Germ Warfare: A Graphic History, and The Harlem Hellfighters. Brooks holds dual fellowships at the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and the Modern War Institute at West Point.

Daniel Kraus
GUEST AUTHOR

Daniel Kraus is a New York Times bestselling author. With Guillermo del Toro, he co-authored The Shape of Water, based on the same idea the two created for the Oscar-winning film. Also with del Toro, Kraus co-authored Trollhunters, which was adapted into the Emmy-winning Netflix series. Kraus’s The Death and Life of Zebulon Finch was named one of Entertainment Weekly’s Top 10 Books of the Year, and he has won two Odyssey Awards (for both Rotters and Scowler) and has been a Library Guild selection, YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults, Bram Stoker finalist, and more. The Living Dead, his newest release, is a posthumous collaboration with legendary filmmaker George A. Romero. Kraus’s work has been translated into over 25 languages. He lives with his wife in Chicago.

Sam Raimi’s 50 States of Fright, available exclusively on Quibi, explores stories based on urban legends from each state, taking viewers deeper into the horrors that lurk just beneath the surface of our country. Telluride Horror Show alum Daniel Goldhaber and Isa Mazzei (CAM, 2018 Official Selection) return to the festival with their 50 States of Fright episode RED RUM (starring Christina Ricci), where a bunch of “influencers” descend on Colorado’s most haunted hotel and find themselves the victims of a bunch of spirits who just want to be left alone.
