Anya Taylor-Joy Was a Bombshell in Dior Haute Couture and Bulgari Jewels at the Critics’ Choice Awards

The Queen’s Gambit actress Anya Taylor-Joy was among the best dressed at last weekend’s Golden Globes awards in her show-stopper emerald Dior Haute Couture gown. She continued to set a high bar for her awards season style at the 2021 Critics’ Choice Awards yesterday, opting for another monochrome Dior Haute Couture look.

This time, she went all in on berry, wearing a dress from the line’s spring-summer 2020 collection: a tulle ballgown that was draped, twisted and fixed with delicate braids at the waist. It has slight Rapunzel vibes, mixed with old Hollywood glamour courtesy of Taylor-Joy’s makeup (from Dior Beauty products), hair, and colorful Bulgari jewelry.

Taylor-Joy won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a movie/mini series for her work in The Queen’s Gambit, so all in all, the look, styled by Law Roach, was fit for a winner.

The tulle dress, with a draped bodice and handmade macramé detailing, was worked on by two people for 200 hours, according to Dior. You can see the craftsmanship first hand in the savoir-faire images below:

On her Instagram, Taylor-Joy shared photos of herself posing in her gown. She thanked Dior for their work and her glam team—and also acknowledged the reality of getting ready for an awards show during the coronavirus pandemic: “What a ride the last 24 hours have been,” she wrote in one Instagram. “Thank you to the wonderful team at @dior + @mariagraziachiuri for my floaty dress, my beauty fairies for getting on a zoom with me at 2 am to try and show your girl how to do her face and @bypip for singlehandedly pulling off what’s usually done by 20 people. NUTS. @diormakeup.”

She also shared a cute little look at what her after-party looked like during a pandemic: “Sleepless cub at the 4 am quarantine after party,” she wrote. “THANK YOU @criticschoice for honouring both the show and Beth. And damn you Scott Frank for making me cry with your speech… no fair.”
