Scot Snaps Incredible Image of What Looks Like a UFO While Trying to Capture Aurora – Daily Record

A Scot has shared an incredible photo of what appears to be a dazzling UFO appearing over the top of some hills at night. Reg Connon, 71, was happy to post the photo online after capturing it while trying to photograph the Northern Lights over the Moray Firth coast.

The part-time coach driver is a regular fan of the Mirrie Dancers and loves to share his stunning night-time photography on Facebook, but his latest pic, taken on Wednesday, August 31, caused a bit of a stir when he posted it online.

The spectacular image shows what appears to be a semi-disc of lights with a row of seven smaller red lights on top of two long white and red ones. The “craft” even appears to be shining a light on the hills below.

Some users suggested it might be a UFO or UAP, while others were quick to suggest Elon Musk’s recent Starlink satellite project. One user even joked that it was ET “coming home for his 40th anniversary”.

While Reg was happy for people to speculate, he eventually cleared things up.

“I was taking photos at Tarlair swimming pool near Macduff and was quite surprised when I first saw it, however, I quickly realised it was a helicopter that was trying to land on a nearby golf course,” he confirmed.

“We don’t usually get helicopters at that time of night, it was down for about 20 mins then took off again, and it later transpired it was an air ambulance.”

One follower of his posts confirmed that the photo had indeed captured the flashing red lights of an aircraft, they explained: “It’s being captured on a long exposure as it moves across the sky, I get that all the time in Iceland whenever I do aurora hunting near Keflavik airport, they ruin a lot of good photos.”
