Kevin Bacon Returns To Horror Yet Again In Blumhouse’ YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT Trailer

What movie do you think of when you think Kevin Bacon and Horror? There’s quite a few to choose from. Tremors, Friday the 13th, Flatliners, the terrifying My Dog Skip. The one that comes to mind for me the most is Stir of Echoes. It’s not the scariest or most memorable horror film ever but it’s just enjoyable as hell to rewatch every few years.

Today, I found out that the Baconator would be reteaming with Stir of Echoes director David Koepp who also has had a storied writing career, including credits like Mission Impossible and Jurassic Park for Blumhouse production You Should Have Left. The film is based off the book of the same title by Daniel Kehlmann. Check it out below while I get my chicken dinner out of the microwave:

Damn! Kevin Bacon AND Amanda Seyfried in a horror movie directed by the dude who did Stir of Echoes and the trailer is catching major Sinister vibes? I’m fully interested in checking out You Should Have Left but a few things have me tempering expectations.

Why is this going straight to video on demand? There’s enough name power here to put this in theaters. I realize Covid and all that but did this ever have a theatrical date to begin with?

Blumhouse even released some of their worst horror films like Fantasy Island, Truth or Dare and the delicious last name’s own film The Darkness in theaters which makes me wonder how much faith they actually have in You Should Have Left. Hopefully though, this is just an attempt to test the VOD market post Covid. (UPDATE: According to Deadline, the film was never planned as a theatrical release).
