Netflix Series “Warrior Nun” Renewed for a Second Season

Season 1 of Netflix’s manga-based “Warrior Nun” premiered July 2, 2020 and is currently streaming globally, and we’ve learned today that a second season is soon on its way.

Inspired by the manga novels, “Warrior Nun” revolves around a 19 year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.

Alba Baptista, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner and Olivia Delcán are set to reprise their roles as the core group of demon-fighting Nuns.

Additional season two casting to be confirmed at a later date.

Meagan wrote in her 4-star review of the debut season, “With a silly title like Warrior Nun and a premise suggestive of another teen Buffy by way of Catholic horror, Netflix’s latest has vast potential to get slept on. The surprising reality is that Warrior Nun slowly reveals itself, throughout its 10-episode inaugural season, to be something special. A singular Hero’s journey with a witty teen antihero transforms into an epic, ensemble story that’s refreshingly ballsy and mature in the way it tackles oft controversial subject matter. By season’s end, Warrior Nun becomes full-throttle action horror with serious stakes, making this an insanely pleasant surprise that’ll leave you clamoring for more. Ignore the dumb name and hit play.”

Simon Barry serves as creator and showrunner of the series.
