‘Blade’: ‘John Wick’ Director Chad Stahelski Expresses Interest in Directing Marvel’s Reboot

Announced at San Diego Comic-Con last summer, Marvel is bringing Blade back to the big screen in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali taking over the title role. We haven’t heard much of anything about the future project outside of that initial announcement, with no writer(s) or director(s) attached at this time.

But it’s fun to note, at least, that stuntman-turned-filmmaker Chad Stahelski (John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, John Wick: Chapter 3) has expressed interest in the gig.

If the opportunity ever came, I would like to take a stab at…the one that really jumps out to me would be like Blade,” Stahelski tells ComicBook.com. “If they were going to redo Blade or something like that, just because I feel that one, for some reason, the vampire martial art action vibe. That would be a cool one to stretch and try and reinvent.”

Of course, it’ll be the Marvel team that ultimately decides who directs the MCU’s Blade movie, and we’ve heard nothing on that front at this time. Stay tuned as we learn more.
