Universal Partners With Sentient Entertainment on a Remake of Nicole Kidman-Starring ‘The Others’

We had learned back in April that Sentient Entertainment was developing a remake of Alejandro Amenábar’s 2001 horror movie The Others, and today we’ve learned via Deadline that Universal Pictures is partnering with Sentient on the remake.

“Universal has optioned the rights to the film from Sentient,” Deadline notes.

The site also reports, “At this time it is unknown how much this film will take from the original storyline. Insider say execs are currently meeting with writers to adapt the script.”

Nicole Kidman starred in the original film as a woman who lives in her darkened old family house with her two photosensitive children, convinced that the home is haunted.

The Others scared up over $200 million worldwide back in 2001.
