The Big Horror Games of 2021

March 2, 2021 2:07 pm By

Horror games have always provided a great backdrop in gaming as a favourite genre and have been a mainstay across multiple platforms – in recent years it has provided the perfect setting for the growing number of games on mobile in different genres, particularly those that thrive from using a certain theme like in online slots as thebestcasinos.co.uk lists sites not blocked by gamstop, but the big AAA titles do horror games better than anyone, and 2021 is set to be a great year for releases. So, what are the most anticipated games in horror?

Resident Evil Village – One of the longest running horror franchises in gaming and with a string of movies too, the next big release set for 2021 had seen a huge fandom grow because of a certain clip showing a vampire lady but following on from the successes of Resident Evil 7 this will certainly be a great game for the year. Whilst there is no gameplay footage released for the title just yet, it is expected that the game will follow in the similar first-person setup and given the success of the previous game could certainly take the Resident Evil franchise in a new direction.

Scorn – Initially released on Kickstarter, the game failed to reach its money raising goal but was still able to move forward into full production thanks to a private investor – another first-person based horror game but with little detail around what fans can expect. Whilst set to be released this year, there’s no specific information on a release date, and whilst players will be forced to explore a world whilst fighting off monsters there has been little revealed about the campaign either. A lot of mystery will certainly help build the game lore and interest will grow with that too, and could end up being one of the great horror games of the year.

Stalker 2 – The original, Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl, was released way back 2007 but quickly became a fan favourite in the survival horror genre – currently having a 10/10 rating on Steam, many have been hoping for the sequel  which has been trying to get off the ground for some time. The good news is that Stalker 2 is set for release in 2021, with a similar feeling of a survival game it’ll bring a modern spin on the older classic. Much like other big releases of the year, some details still remain a little up in the air, but given the success of the first, this game will surely be huge.
