So, remember last year how someone leaked footage of a standalone multiplayer mode for The Last of Us Part II, not to mention that we were all expecting some sort of DLC for Naughty Dog’s hit sequel? Well apparently, that’s not going to happen for the time being.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, Naughty Dog currently has “no plans” to pursue any additional DLC content for the game. Speaking on the MinnMax Show, Schreier states that when it came to the topic of DLC, he believes that “at one point [Naughty Dog] was thinking about DLC, but I don’t think that happened.”
Schreier also believes that Naughty Dog hasn’t closed the door entirely on the idea, saying that the studio “may still do something” at some point. This is again in line with what Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann had said back in September 2019, with Naughty Dog planning to release a new multiplayer offering after its work on the sequel was complete.
Currently, the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us is getting prepped for production beginning in July, with Bella Ramsey starring as Ellie, Pedro Pascal as Joel, and more recently, Gabriel Luna joining as Joel’s brother Tommy, while rumours circulate about Naughty Dog doing a PS5 remake of The Last of Us.
Thanks to GamesRadar for the heads up.
