‘Rocket Stop Incident’ is an Experiment in Surrealist Horror Gaming

If you’re in the market for some Twin Peaks-esque horror in your video game, then Project Handsoap’s surreal Rocket Stop Incident might just be the thing for you. The developer has released a brand-new demo on Steam to coincide with the Steam Summer Festival.

Aiming for a late 2021 release, Rocket Stop Incident involves a lonely little gas station known as Rocket Stop. It’s your job to clean the floors, refill the coffee machine, and ensure that company property isn’t messed with. Of course, you know how this goes: weird stuff starts happening, you feel as if you’re being watched, and reality starts to come unglued.

“Project Handsoap is a two-person team with a passion for indie games and intense atmospheric horror,” explains 3D artist Grant Bernstein. “The experimental gameplay, unpredictable story, and bizarre setting of the Rocket Stop Incident are all inspired by multitudes of indie horror games that we loved playing. We hope players enjoy their time at Rocket Stop!”
