Michael Dougherty‘s Krampus returns to terrorize the holiday season this year, with Scream Factory announcing last week that a 4K release is on the way on the road to Christmas.
Krampus: The Naughty Cut was originally coming to 4K Ultra HD on November 16, but Scream Factory has updated today with the news that it’s been bumped back a tad bit.
The good news? It’s still coming *before* Christmas!
From Scream: “The response to our recent announcement of the upcoming UHD/Blu-ray was so positive and overwhelming that Director Michael Dougherty kindly asked for a little more time to work on the release, which of course we agreed to! The new release date is Dec 7th and will be worth it. Final extras and more details will be revealed in Late Oct/early Nov.”
Yes, this is a brand new, never-before-seen version of the 2015 holiday horror film. Scream Factory explains, “For the first time ever Michael’s Dougherty’s previously unseen “Naughty Cut” of the film will be seeing the light of day! This alternate version restores key dialogue and scenes that had to be trimmed from the original theatrical release to appease the MPAA.”
This definitive version of the film was supervised by Dougherty himself. The release from Scream Factory will *not* include the theatrical version of the movie we know and love.
In Krampus, “When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.”
