Sundance Hit ‘Knocking’ Comes to Theaters and On Demand in October from Yellow Veil Pictures [Trailer]

Guillermo del Toro‘s next movie is titled Nightmare Alley, and Searchlight Pictures will be releasing the hotly anticipated film only in theaters on December 17, 2021.

Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, and David Strathairn star in Nightmare Alley.

Vanity Fair provides us with several first look images from Nightmare Alley this week, while making it clear that the film isn’t a supernatural horror movie but rather a noir thriller.

“It has happened to me in the past with Crimson Peak, where people went in expecting a horror movie. But yes, this has no supernatural element. It’s based completely in a reality world. There is nothing fantastic. It’s a very different movie from my usual,” del Toro notes.

Check out some images below and head over to Vanity Fair for more insights from Guillermo del Toro along with a handful others images that you won’t find in this article.

In the film…

“An ambitious young carny (Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.”

The movie adapts the novel by William Lindsay Gresham.

Published in 1946, the novel spawned its first feature film just one year later starring Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell, and this new take was written by del Toro and Kim Morgan.
