Freya Ridings Returns with Stripped Back Piano Ballad ‘Perfect’

Freya Ridings recently returned to the upper reaches of the singles charts with ‘Weekends’, aided by huge airplay (Tune of the Week at Radio 1 plus key playlists including Radio 2, Capital, Virgin Radio, and Bauer Hits) and a dazzling performance on The Graham Norton Show. Now Freya again ramps up the anticipation ahead of the April 28th release of her second album ‘Blood Orange’ by sharing the new song ‘Perfect’. The track is accompanied by a lyric video.

Coming from the most intimate side of Freya’s sonic spectrum, ‘Perfect’ is a stripped back piano ballad which unmasks her vulnerabilities before realising that she has an inner strength which overpowers her personally preconceived imperfections. Just as the lyrics detail Freya moving into a better headspace, the song reaches a transformative conclusion as her swirling vocal harmonies elevate the power of the tracks final, rousing chorus.

Talking on the track Freya says: “This song is about feeling more insecure than you let on and in a lovely freeing way, maybe no one cares, and that’s ok.”

‘Perfect’ was written by Freya with the track’s producer, the solo artist Ewan J Phillips (‘Faithless’, ‘I Wish I Was The Moon’).

‘Perfect’ joins ‘Weekends’, ‘Can I Jump?’ and ‘Face In The Crowd’ in previewing the ‘Blood Orange’ album. The four songs hint at the leap forward Freya has taken since her self-titled, Gold-certified #3 debut album, with ‘Blood Orange’ stretching from moments of soul-baring reflection to others of pure uplifting celebration. What emerges throughout is that Freya had the courage to write honestly about the things she struggled to say – and that has created a relatable array of experiences which will surely speak to fans.

In recent weeks, Freya has been reminding fans of her stunning performances with a series of Live At Alexandra Palace videos. The first chance for fans to see her perform in person in eighteen months comes when she plays four intimate shows to celebrate the release of ‘Blood Orange’, remaining tickets for which are available HERE. Her summer festival schedule then gets underway with Tunes In The Dunes (headlined by James Bay), before calling at Hideaway Festival (headlined by Bastille), Hardwick Festival (Healdined by The Kooks) and Alex James’ The Big Festival (Headlines by Sigrid).
