Cass McCombs and Mr. Greg Share New Song ‘Friends From Around the World (Hello Version)’

Singer-songwriter Cass McCombs and San Francisco-based preschool teacher Mr. Greg (aka Greg Gardner) have shared ‘Friends From Around the World (Hello Version)’, which appears on their upcoming LP Mr. Greg & Cass McCombs Sing and Play New Folk Songs for Children. The collection contains songs Garnder wrote for his own students, with arrangements by McCombs. Listen to the new track, which features vocals from Michael Hurley as well as Gardner’s daughter, below.

“In ‘Friends From All Around The World,’ my daughter returns each greeting (listeners are welcome to do the same) and sends a special hello to Boone and Jocko, characters that live in many of Michael Hurley’s songs and illustrations,” Gardner explained in a statement. “There’s even a special hello from our family cat. Listen carefully for the meow.”

Mr. Greg & Cass McCombs Sing and Play New Folk Songs for Children is out August 18 via Smithsonian Folkways.
