The Warriors 4K UHD from Arrow Video
The Warriors will come out to play on 4K Ultra HD on December 12 from Arrow Video. Both the 1979 theatrical cut and the 2005 alternate version have been newly restored in 4K from the original camera negative with Dolby Vision.
The action thriller is directed by Walter Hill (48 Hrs., Deadwood) from a script he co-wrote with David Shaber (Nighthawks), based on Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel. Michael Beck, James Remar, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, Marcelino Sánchez, and David Harris lead the ensemble cast.
The limited edition set comes with a 100-page book featuring new writing by film critic Dennis Cozzalio plus archival material, a double-sided poster with Laurie Greasley’s new artwork and the original key art, six art carts, and gang logo stickers, all housed in a slipcase.
New extras include: interviews with Hill, editor Billy Weber, and costume designer Bobbie Mannix; a commentary by A Walter Hill Film author Walter Chaw; a roundtable discussion with filmmakers Josh Olson, Lexi Alexander, and Robert D. Krzykowski; a tour of the filming locations; and more, along with several archive featurettes.
London After Midnight Figure from NECA
NECA will release a London After Midnight ultimate action figure in February. Based on Lon Chaney’s portrayal of Professor Edward Burke from the lost horror classic, pre-orders are live for $37.
The highly articulated, 7″ scale toy comes with three interchangeable heads, five interchangeable hands, removable hat, lantern, and attachable winged cape. It’s packaged in a window box with opening flap.
Duel drives onto 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital on November 14 via Universal. The theatrical cut has been restored in 4K from the original camera negative with HDR 10 and Dolby Atmos audio. The TV cut is also included in high definition in its original 1.33:1 aspect ratio.
Steven Spielberg made his feature directorial debut with the 1971 thriller from a script by Richard Matheson (I Am Legend), based on Matheson’s own short story. Dennis Weaver and Carey Loftin star.
Special features include: A Conversation with Steven Spielberg; Steven Spielberg and the Small Screen; Richard Matheson: The Writing of Duel; and a gallery of stills and posters.
Child’s Play 2 Jack-in-the-Box from Spirit Halloween
Sorry Jack, Chucky’s back! Not only has the killer doll returned with Season 3 of Chucky, but now you can own a replica of the jack-in-the-box from the Child’s Play 2 poster.
Available for $59.99 at Spirit Halloween, the 11.3″ collectible makes sound when you spin the handle.
Resident Evil Steelbook 4K UHD Collection from Sony
The Resident Evil films will be released in a Steelbook 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray box set on November 3 via Sony. Based on the Capcom video game series, all six action-horror films are presented with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.
The franchise kicked off with Resident Evil in 2002, followed by Resident Evil: Apocalypse in 2004, Resident Evil: Extinction in 2007, Resident Evil: Afterlife in 2010, Resident Evil: Retribution in 2012, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in 2016.
Paul W.S. Anderson (Death Race, Event Horizon) directed the first, fourth, fifth, and sixth installments, in addition to writing and producing the entire series. The second chapter was directed by Alexander Witt, while Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) helmed the third. Milla Jovovich stars.
Both the theatrical and extended cuts of Apocalypse are included, along with archival special features for all six titles: audio commentaries, making-of featurette, and more.
