VR Mode Coming December 8 for ‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake for PlayStation VR2 [Trailer]

Good things come to those who wait, and those eager to put their PlayStation VR2 headset to good use for Resident Evil 4 will be able to do so next Friday. Capcom has announced that the long-awaited free VR Mode for the PlayStation 5 version of the Resident Evil 4 remake will be coming on December 8.

And just in case for whatever reason you’re on the fence about getting Resident Evil 4 on the PlayStation 5 (and subsequently PlayStation VR2), Capcom is also launching a free demo for the VR Mode on the same day. The Resident Evil 4 VR Mode Gameplay Demo provides a 360° look at the game’s opening and new features, including the Shooting Range, where you can mess around and experiment with weapons to get a feel for the VR controls.

The VR Mode for Resident Evil 4 supports the full main story campaign, letting players see the world directly through Leon’s eyes and soak in his surroundings with the 4K HDR display of PlayStation VR2. The VR Mode further enhances the atmosphere with the PSVR2’s 3D audio, giving further immersion for the player.

Weapons can be handled with natural motions, including unique gestures for reloading specific firearms, such as handguns, shotguns, and rifles. This also extends to the game’s enhanced knife action for those close encounters. As mentioned, The VR Mode also features a Shooting Range, providing a training ground to help players to brush up their combat skills by testing out the aiming, firing, and reload mechanics for each weapon.

No word yet on if the VR Mode will be coming to the Steam version of the game at some point. Resident Evil 4 is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.
