Leonardo DiCaprio and his girlfriend, Vittoria Ceretti, sparked engagement rumors when the couple was photographed getting lunch this week. The model was seen wearing a silver ring on her left ring finger in photos. As quickly as proposal speculation spread to outlets like Entertainment Tonight though, sources shut it down to TMZ.
The insiders shared that DiCaprio has not in fact proposed to Ceretti despite the ring photos. They added that Ceretti has actually been wearing that ring in particular for years, long before she started dating DiCaprio. The silver sparkler’s first public sighting was in 2022.
Ceretti and DiCaprio first started dating in May 2023. They have kept their relationship private minus a few outings captured by paparazzi.
Ceretti spoke to ELLE in February about her unexpected fashion career. She entered the Elite Model Look’s competition when she was 14 as a joke, the now 25-year-old model shared. “I didn’t even know what modeling was like; I had no clue,” she said. “It’s not something that I was fascinated by or interested in. It was not my dream.”
She recalled her experience arriving at the contest she’d win, saying, “There were all these tall, gorgeous girls, and my mom and I were in line. We were like, ‘Maybe we should just leave, because this is never going to work.’ Then my [now] agent [Elena Mansueto, of Elite] ended up walking up to us to make sure that we weren’t going to leave.”
Her career quickly became “super serious, and it’s funny because it’s been an adventure ever since, and an amazing adventure,” she said. “I can’t believe I took it as a joke, but I think that’s also what made it so special, that I never took it seriously at first.”
