Post Malone will release his first full-length country album later this year
Post Malone kickstarts his country era with new single “I Had Some Help.” He debuted the song, which features Morgan Wallen, live at Stagecoach last month.
Post Malone and Wallen’s inevitable summer hit is a big country-pop tune, in the vein of many of Wallen’s own singles. The song is about a relationship falling apart and knowing that it wasn’t just one person’s fault. “It ain’t like I can make this kinda mess all by myself,” they sing on the chorus. “Don’t act like you ain’t help me pull that bottle off the shelf.”
The duo paired the single with a video featuring the singers enjoying a raucous night at the karaoke bar:
“I Had Some Help” serves as the first preview of Post Malone’s first-ever full-length country album, which will be out later this year. During his Stagecoach debut in April, he performed country covers with guests Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, and Dwight Yoakam.
The Grammy-nominated star has already had a busy year. He made an appearance in Jennifer Lopez’s musical film This Is Me…Now alongside Jane Fonda and Keke Palmer as part of an astrology council. He has also been on two of the year’s biggest albums: Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. His duet “Fortnite” with Swift is currently Number One on the Hot 100.
Swift praised Post Malone on social media the day before releasing her new album. “I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever,” she wrote. “I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on ‘Fortnight.’”
