Maren Morris Comes Out as Bisexual: ‘Happy to Be the B in LGBTQ+’

Morris made the announcement in a Pride Month post on Instagram

Maren Morris told followers on Instagram that she’s bisexual. In a post this weekend following a tour stop in Phoenix, Morris wrote, “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+.” LGBTQ+ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer, with the plus sign symbolizing other sexual identities. Morris also wrote “Happy pride” in her post, with an emoji of a rainbow.

The country and pop singer is currently on the road as part of her RSVP Redux Tour and performed at the Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix on Saturday. She plays her next show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on Tuesday.

Morris filed for divorce from her husband, the country singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd, last October, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The former couple, who have a four-year-old son together, legally separated the same day as the filing and had a prenup. The divorce was finalized this January, ending their five-year marriage. The singers had wed in Nashville in 2018 and released the duet “Chasing After You” in 2021.

Morris’s Instagram post included images of her onstage holding a rainbow pride flag. June is designated as Pride Month.

Morris released the EP The Bridge last September, featuring the songs “The Tree” and “Get the Hell Out of Here.” The tracks were seen as the Grammy-winning singer’s goodbye to the mainstream country industry.

“These two songs are incredibly key to my next step because they express a very righteously angry and liberating phase of my life these last couple of years but also how my navigation is finally pointing towards the future, whatever that may be or sound like,” Morris said then in a statement. “Honoring where I’ve been and what I’ve achieved in country music, but also freely moving forward.”
