Selling A Property? Makeover These Areas To Truly Impress Buyers

Want to sell your home ASAP? Then you’re in luck! Summer is a very popular time to sell your home. The season provides the best light to take photos in, it’s easy to get renovations and clear outs done thanks to the dry and sunny weather, and people just seem to like finding a new home when there are blue skies above.

However, if you want to sell your property right now and attract the biggest possible amount of buyers, you’re going to need to makeover a few areas around the property first. When you know what buyers are looking for from the moment they step through your door, it’ll be quite easy to turn that attention into dollar signs.

So let’s go through seven different areas of a house that you’ll need to give some TLC and a little facelift. The better your home looks, the more impressed a potential buyer is going to be, and the bigger the profit you’ll get out of the sale. That’ll make any investment you make right now totally worth it!

Front Door Security

How secure is your home right now? If it’s just got a lock and key on the front door, you may want to upgrade if you’re about to sell the property on. Front door security is essential to the current buying market, and seeing as more and more accessible security options are hitting the market, most people will want to see them in use.

Video doorbells, for example, and motion sensor lights, are two of the most popular and most sought after security upgrades you can place just outside of the front door of your house. They don’t cost all that much to install either!

Bathroom Fixtures

If it’s been quite a while since you replaced the faucets in the bathroom, or you’ve never replaced them during the time you’ve lived in the property, you’ll want to get this checked off before you sell.

New bathroom fixtures, as a whole, are very attractive to the buying market, as they suggest a higher level of comfort and convenience from the bathroom. Make sure you get a new mirror, some extra towel rails, and a brand new shower mat down on the tiles as well.

If you can, use these fixtures to throw in a splash of color as well, as an all white bathroom doesn’t look all that good in real estate photos!

A Spare Room

If there’s a spare room in your house, don’t leave it spare! Convert it in some way for extra cash. A guest room, a home office, a studio – these are all great, money-making renovations.

The Garden Lawn

The garden is one of the biggest areas a property has to boast, and you need to make sure it looks good when a prospective buyer comes round for a viewing. Why? Because garden space promises potential! The garden can even be considered another room in the property as a whole, seeing as you can put furniture and storage out there.

If a buyer can’t imagine themselves pruning the bushes or relaxing in the summer sun on the patio, it’s going to be harder for them to fall in love with the place!

So get a weed eater out and make sure the lawn looks neat and tidy. While you’re here, cut back any low or overhanging branches, and make sure any water features are pumping out a fresh and clean stream.

The Driveway or Garage

What does the entrance to your home look like? We’re not just talking about the front door here, but the driveway and front lawn leading up to it as well. Is it well cared for? Has it been landscaped in the past? If the answer to either of these questions is no, now’s a good time to put in a little bit of time and effort.

You’ll also want to look over the garage, if your property has one attached, to see if there’s any potential to be squeezed out of it. If the garage has always been used as just that, make sure you bring this up to the buyer – they’ll instantly be able to spot the potential in the space and how they can use it once they’ve moved in.

Your Storage Areas

Storage is essential in the modern home; we all own quite a few things nowadays! So, what storage do you have in your house that isn’t going to be taken with you once you’ve moved?

Walk-in closets, cupboards under the stairs, hallway closets, etc., are all  great storage features a buyer will be very happy to see.

If you’ve got some space in any of these areas and you don’t already have a storage option there, maybe now’s the time to get one installed? You won’t be able to use them yourself, but you’ll certainly enjoy the extra 2-5% they may be able to add onto the price!

Your Floors

Treating the floor just right is the best way into a buyer’s heart. Someone who wants to move into the property is going to want to see sturdy, stable, and well balanced floors beneath them.

If you have dips in your hardwood or the carpet has been scuffed in the past, they’re not quite going to get this impression! They may even ask for the price to be lowered because of these signs of damage, which is bad news for you.

Get these issues seen to before you put the property on the market; fill in any cracks, iron out the dip, and even get the carpet replaced if need be.

If you want to sell your property and get it off your hands in the fastest time possible, get into the buyer’s mindset. What do they want to see? What can you do to provide the best impression possible? It’s all in the areas above! Get them seen to, give them a makeover, and shake hands on the best deal available.
