The Belair Lip Bombs Sign to Third Man Records

The Belair Lip Bombs have signed to Third Man Recordings, becoming the first Australian band to sign to the label. “Signing with Third Man has been a dream for us, particularly as the first Australian band on the label,” the band said in a press release. “Everyone at the label is a legend and it’s obvious how much love they put into each of their releases. We couldn’t be more stoked to be joining the Third man fam!”

Helmed by frontwoman Maisie Everett, the Belair Lip Bombs features guitarist Mike Bradvica, drummer Liam De Bruin, and bassist Jimmy Droughton. Their debut album, Lush Life, arrived last year via Cousin Will, and will now be reissued on Jack White’s label. Physical copies will be available from October 18.

Discussing the record, Everett said:

The album is titled ‘Lush Life’ – these words are referenced a few times throughout the album. Themes or motifs explored in the album often involve a longing for something that isn’t there, but maybe not quite knowing exactly what that something is. The term ‘Lush Life’ sort of describes a picture perfect world where everything is easy (but doesn’t actually exist).

I wanted it to be perfect, and we tried a lot of different things in the studio, in terms of melodies and harmonies. It was a lot of fun. I was playing in another band at the time and constantly on tour which made it hard to finish the album in a linear way. But I’m glad we took our time with it, because it’s turned out exactly how we wanted it.

The Belair Lip Bombs are currently working on their second LP, which is expected to arrive next year.
