The actor stars in the clip for “Oak Island” off the country artist’s latest album, The Great American Bar Scene
Zack Bryan’s ballad of brotherly love and strife, “Oak Island,” has received a new music video starring Casey Affleck.
The visual matches the song’s story of two brothers on divergent paths, one trying to save the other from a potentially devastating mistake. The video opens with Affleck repeatedly calling his brother, played by Jack Martin, and leaving voicemails that go unanswered. Meanwhile, Affleck’s character cares for their ailing mother and works his difficult factory job until one night, he finally spots Martin at a bar, drags him home, gives him a stern talking to, then heads out to deliver a beat-down to one of Martin’s unsavory associates.
But unsurprisingly, that doesn’t help much. The clip ends with a dramatic car chase as Affleck tries to chase down Martin one last time, though there’s no concrete resolution — just the two brothers staring at each other on opposite sides of the road amid flashbacks to their childhood together.
Bryan wrote the story for the “Oak Island” video with his girlfriend, podcaster Brianna Lapaglia. It was directed by Matthew Dillon Cohen, who helmed several Bryan clips, including “Nine Ball” – which starred Matthew McConaughey — “Oklahoma Smokeshow,” and “Boys of Faith.”
“Oak Island” appears on Bryan’s latest album, The Great American Bar Scene, which was released earlier this summer. The singer-songwriter is currently enjoying some well-earned time off after several months on the road for his massive Quittin’ Time Tour. He’ll be back on stage briefly for a set at Bourbon & Beyond in Louisville, Kentucky, later this month before kicking off another run of North American shows in mid-November.
Bryan was also just announced as one of the headliners for the 2025 Stagecoach festival, taking place next April in Indio, California.
