Shaboozey Takes a Long and Lonesome Road in New ‘Highway’ Video

Track is latest single off rapper/singer’s album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going

Shaboozey finds himself on a long and lonesome road in the new video for “Highway,” the rising country star’s latest single from his album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

The visual sees Shaboozey wandering Paris, Texas-style through the picturesque heartland in the aftermath of a breakup, with only guitar in hand. His solo sojourn takes him to the backs of pickup trucks, small-town carnivals, roadside diners, and finally, an empty prairie at sundown, where he sings “Highway” next to a campfire.

“Highway,” which Shaboozey performed on The Late Show earlier this month, is the singer/rapper’s follow-up single to his Number One smash “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Both tracks appear on Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, which arrived in May.

In a review of Shaboozey’s new LP, Rolling Stone‘s David Browne wrote that the musician “comes across like someone raised on country who also appreciates hip hop. In doing so, he’s effectively changed the game. Cowboy Carter (where he made two cameos) lobbed the first volley in redefining and modernizing country, but Shaboozey’s second album is a full-on barrage of all those possibilities.”

The singer also earned his first CMA Awards nominations earlier this month for both Best New Artist and Single of the Year for his breakout chart-topper “Tipsy (A Bar Song).”

Shaboozey hit the road earlier this month in support of the album, with a North American tour that’s making stops in Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn, and other cities.
