Morgan Wallen Finally Lands First-Ever Grammy Nomination

Singer is up for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for featuring on Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help”

Despite being one of the biggest artists in the country over the past half-decade, Grammys recognition had thus far eluded Morgan Wallen… until the 2025 nominations were announced.

The “One Thing at a Time” singer picked up a pair of nominations — his (technically) first-ever nods — in the Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance categories for his contribution to Post Malone’s hit “I Had Some Help.”

While the two nominations are Wallen’s first Grammy nominations, the singer’s smash “Last Night” was up for Best Country Song at the 2024 Grammys, although only the track’s four songwriters (and not Wallen himself) were nominated.

Despite a pair of chart-dominating albums (Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing at a Time) and 10 Number One country hits in the span of a five-year period, Wallen had long been ignored by Grammy voters, either due to past controversies — the chair-throwing incident, the racial slur video, partying during Covid — or a debate over his artistic merit.

Notably, Wallen — despite a weeks-long stretch atop the Billboard charts and sold-out tours — never received a nomination for Best New Artist, and, while listed as co-songwriter on “I Had Some Help,” still hasn’t received a Grammy nomination for one of his own songs.

“I Had Some Help” will face off against Kacey Musgraves’ “The Architect,” Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Jelly Roll’s “I Am Not Okay,” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” in the Best Country Song category. Over in Best Country Duo/Group Performance, the single is challenged by Brothers Osbourne’s “Break Mine,” Dan + Shay’s “Bigger Houses,” Beyonce and Miley Cyrus’ “II Most Wanted,” and Kelsea Ballerini’s “Cowboys Cry Too” featuring Noah Kahan.
