Donna Kelce on Why Taylor Swift Likely Won’t Join Travis Kelce and the Family on Thanksgiving

Taylor Swift is off this week from her Eras Tour, with just one weekend of shows left in Vancouver from December 6 to 8. Still, the singer isn’t expected to be at Thanksgiving festivities with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his family. His mom, Donna Kelce, spoke on the Today show earlier this month about the Kelces’ plans for the holiday and why she doesn’t think Swift will make it it this year.

“I am going to be at a football game,” Donna said of her own schedule. “Travis is playing the day after Thanksgiving. You know, football is always the holidays. It’s football’s family.” She added that no big dinner was planned: “I think we’re just going to be at the football game. We’re doing that.”

As for whether Swift is attending, Donna told the anchors very frankly, “I don’t think so. She’s kinda busy right now. She still has her tour to do.” (For those who want to get tickets to her last three shows, it’s not too late. See how here.)

Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday at 3 P.M. It is a home game for them at Arrowhead Stadium, making it a possibility for Swift to attend. She has only been attending home games this season.

Last Thanksgiving, TMZ reported that Swift and Kelce were planning to bring their families together for their first year celebrating the American holiday as a couple. Unfortunately, tragedy struck during Swift’s November 17 Eras Tour show in Brazil, where 23-year-old fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado died of heat exhaustion. Swift remained in South America that year rather than traveling back to the U.S. for Thanksgiving.

Swift spoke out about Machado in her Instagram Story, sharing, “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it.”

She added, “I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”

Swift continued her tour and later shared a different milestone with Kelce: She spent Christmas 2023 attending his game with her family and Santa Claus.

There are only three more of Swift’s Eras Tour shows left. See below for more info on how to grab tickets.
