Watch Kamasi Washington Perform ‘Lesanu’ on ‘Fallon’

Kamasi Washington was the musical guest on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing ‘Lesanu’, the opening track from his latest album Fearless Movement. The jazz luminary’s band featured his father Rickey Washington on flute, Ryan Porter on trombone, Brandon Coleman and Cameron Graves on keys and piano, Tony Austin and Mike Mitchell on drums, Miles Mosley on bass, Patrice Quinn on vocals, and DJ Battlecat. They were joined onstage by a traditional Ethiopian dance group. Watch it happen below.

Washington recently co-produced two tracks from Kendrick Lamar’s latest album GNX, ‘tv off’ and ‘luther’. He also got a shoutout on the rapper’s No. 1 hit ‘squabble up’.
