SZA joined Kendrick Lamar onstage at last night’s Super Bowl halftime show, singing their hits “luther” and “All the Stars.” Immediately following their history-making performance, SZA posted a message on Instagram to Lamar—it was as candid note full of gratitude as she reflected on their big moment ahead of their joint tour.
She wrote, “THANK YOU @kendricklamar for consistently putting the world on your back. At all times. Thank you for lifting me up. Thank you for encouraging me and being so willing to bend to whatever I may need. Thank you to your incredible team and mine! You’re a prophet. But you knew that. I wasn’t nervous today. I was ready to rep for u. For US. Thank you God, Dot, and the NFL for this opportunity #SUPERBOWL2025 wrapped 🫡”

SZA spoke in an interview for Apple Music about how Lamar asked her to be part of his performance. She hadn’t expected the invitation “at all,” she said, adding, “I was on the Internet just like everybody else, being like, ‘Oh, he about to eat that shit,’ like it is. And that’s it, eat it down. And then, like, at the last minute—or further than you’d expect for someone to ask? I just knew that he wasn’t going to ask me, ’cause that would be crazy. And he did, and I laughed. I was like, ‘Okay.’ It just was a matter of me being able to commit to that moment because I just feel like he’s so flawless. I’ve never seen a flaw in any performance or any offering that he’s ever given. And I just want to be, you know, on par with that energy and just give as much as I can to the situation.”
