Idris Elba Will Battle a Lion in Universal’s Survival Thriller ‘Beast’; Being Compared to ‘The Shallows’

Universal Pictures has enlisted the help of Idris Elba to tame a wild Beast, with Deadline reporting that Elba will star in the survival thriller that pits man against hungry lion.

Baltasar Kormákur (Everest, Adrift) will direct the film.

Deadline notes, “Plot details are vague other then it being in the vein of The Shallows but instead of sharks, a lion with be involved as the central antagonist.”

Based on an idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan, Ryan Engle (Rampage) wrote the script.

Producers include Primak-Sullivan, Kormákur, Will Packer and James Lopez.
