Paul Newman’s Summer Camp Fire: Here’s Why Internet Thinks Late Actor’s Ghost Started Connecticut Fire – MEAWW

In an unfortunate incident, late actor Paul Newman’s summer camp located in Connecticut caught fire on Friday, February 13. The camp was founded by the Hollywood star in 1988 for seriously ill children and their families. Luckily, there were no injuries reported but the arts and crafts, woodshop and the cooking zone buildings got destroyed during the incident.

According to Connecticut State Trooper Josue J. Dorelus, Connecticut state troopers and the Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU) responded to a report of a structure fire at the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Connecticut, as reported by CNN. However, the news took a completely different turn on Twitter after the users noticed that CNN’s headline for the story conveyed the message as if Paul Newman started the fire. For the unversed, the actor died in 2008 at the age of 83.

CNN’s headline for the incident on Twitter read, “Authorities are investigating a fire that broke out at a summer camp started by the late actor Paul Newman for seriously ill children and their families” whereas, the headline on their website said, “Fire damages a summer camp Paul Newman founded for sick children in Connecticut.” Their social media post headline soon caught the attention of the Internet where a few slammed the publication while others made pulled their leg for not putting the headline correctly.

‘Who put together the wording of this story?’

A lot of social media users rushed to Twitter to share the publication’s headline and poked fun at it. One user posted, “This is very sad but also an extremely confusing headline. At first I was thinking “did Paul Newman’s ghost start a fire at a camp for ill children?” Another stated, “Paul Newman died in 2008. That’s a hell of a fire if it’s still going twelve years after he started it.” One user added, “Who put together the wording of this story, huh? It reads as if Paul Newman came to life to burn down his camp. Who else noticed that?” while the next one asserted, “Gotta rewrite that…sounds like Newman started the fire. Then again, I’ve had a drink or three.”
