Gigi Saul Guerrero Directing Horror Movie ‘Bingo’ for Blumhouse, Starring Adriana Barraza

Part of the next wave of their Welcome to the Blumhouse project, Blumhouse TV and Amazon Studios recently announced Bingo, being directed by Gigi Saul Guerrero (Culture Shock).

The film will star Golden Globe and Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza (Amores Perros, Babel, Drag Me to Hell), who recently starred in “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.”

Announced today, “Barraza plays the lead character of “Lupita,” a strong and stubborn “chingona” (bad ass) who grew up in the barrio of Oak Springs, a neighborhood formerly full of crime and dangerous characters. Lupita has dedicated her life to cleaning up the neighborhood, and creating a community the residents could be proud to call home.”

In Bingo, “In the barrio of Oak Springs live a strong and stubborn group of elderly friends who refuse to be gentrified. Their leader, Lupita (Barraza), keeps them together as a community, a family. But little did they know, their beloved Bingo hall is about to be sold to a much more powerful force than money itself.”

Shane McKenzie & Gigi Saul Guerrero, along with Perry Blackshear, wrote the script.

2021 Welcome to the Blumhouse films also include The Manor, Black as Night, and Madres.
