“The multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.”
The hotly-anticipated first teaser trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home has debuted out of CinemaCon tonight, busting the MCU’s Multiverse wide open!
Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker in the new Jon Watts-directed sequel, whose identity as Spider-Man has been exposed to the world. This time around, Peter seeks out the help of Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange, who casts a spell to make the world forget. That’s the original plan, at least. Of course, it has disastrous (and bizarre) consequences…
Strange’s spell ends up cracking open the Multiverse, allowing for the return of Willem Dafoe‘s Green Goblin and Alfred Molina‘s Doctor Octopus from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films!
Molina appears in this first teaser trailer, while we hear Dafoe’s iconic laugh and get a glimpse of one of the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bombs. This is all of course part of the build towards the future of the MCU and next year’s release of Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will further explore the darkest side of the MCU’s Multiverse.
The MCU is about to get… strange…
No Way Home opens exclusively in movie theaters December 17.
