Larry David doesn’t like just anyone. Furthermore, he rarely goes outside, and when he does, it’s usually in service of filming a new Curb episode — not fraternizing with celebrity peers. And he certainly makes it plain that he’d rather be home alone inside when he does venture out. So imagine our surprise at seeing LD 1. Outside. 2. Seated next to none other than Timothée Chalamet. 3. And, seemingly, enjoying himself?

Paparazzi caught David, Chalamet and two others enjoying lunch in New York with Timmy seeming especially animated and happy to chop it up with the Social Assassin, and Larry more or less indulging him. What are they talking about? How did this big link come to be? How long have they been friends? Is there work attached to this?

The questions are endless, but just imagine Chalamet in a Curb guest spot. His endearing goofiness that makes many a tumblr user swoon can easily be weaponized for maximum awkwardness. We could be looking at a top 10 Curb cameo here — the new season debuts next month on HBO. Or maybe Larry finally found someone he can stand in the millennial / Gen Z pool. Here’s to more of this beautiful May-December friendship.
