Supermassive Games Trademarks Five New Names for ‘The Dark Pictures Anthology’

They warned us, and now DreadXP have announced that their fifth edition of the Dread X Collection is coming. The announcement was accompanied by a small teaser trailer that, while it doesn’t reveal much, leaves a lot of speculation as to the theme of the new collection.

The presence of candles in the logo, along with the various clown imagery in the 24-second video seems to suggest a party-themed collection. Of course, this is all just guesswork, as DreadXP hasn’t revealed details just yet, including a release date.

In case you’ve not heard of the Dread X Collection series before, the series has DreadXP teaming up with several indie devs to showcase their works based on a particular theme. For example, the previous collection, Dread X Collection: The Hunt, focused on seven short horror shooters that revolved around an overarching story involving the abandoned ARK 2 research base.

The devs are given a short development timeframe to create the games, which in The Hunt‘s case, resulted in around 8-12 hours of total playtime.

There’s no Steam page as of yet, so we’ll be keeping our eyes out for this one. If you’re interested in checking out the previous collections, you can hit up series’ page on Steam. And, if you’re interested in something more recent from DreadXP, you can always check out their Lovecraftian take on dating sims with Sucker For Love, which was released just last month on Steam.
