A24 Announces Coming of Age Story ‘Earth Mama’

A24 announced on Wednesday that it would be backing a brand new movie called ‘Earth Mama’ from Savanah Leaf. The film will star Tia Nomore, Erika Alexander, Doechii, Sharon Duncan Brewster, Dominic Fike, and Bokeem Woodbine, with Leaf writing the script for her directorial debut.

The early logline for the movie states; “an intimate coming of age story of a pregnant single mother who embraces her Bay Area community as she determines the fate of her family.”

Before she stepped into film making, Leaf was a British volleyball player who competed for Great Britain as an Olympian in the 2012 Summer Olympics. Following that, she went on to direct a variety of music videos, including the Gary Clark Jr. single “This Land” and Common’s “HER Love.”
