Aliens Mess With the Wrong Girls On ‘Slash/Back’ Art [Exclusive]

Aliens are headed to the arctic in the upcoming sci-fi invasion film Slash/Back, which opens in limited theaters, Digital HD, and VOD platforms on October 21, 2022, via RLJE Films and Shudder.

In Slash/Back, “Set in Pangnirtung, Nunavut, a sleepy hamlet nestled in the majestic mountains of Baffin Island in the Arctic Ocean, Slash/Back opens as the village wakes up to a typical summer day. No School, no cool boys (well… except one), and 24-hour sunlight. But for Maika and her ragtag friends, the usual summer is suddenly not in the cards when they discover an alien invasion threatening their hometown.

“These teenagers have been underestimated their whole lives but, using makeshift weapons and their horror movie knowledge, they show the aliens you don’t f*** with the girls from Pang.”

Directed by Nyla Innuksuk, Slash/Back stars Melissa Hood, Nalajoss Ellsworth, and Chelsea Prusky.

Innuksuk’s feature debut premiered at this year’s SXSW, where our own Trace Thurman reviewed the film. Thurman called it “a delightful throwback to ’80s gateway horror that errs on the side of sweetness in lieu of outright scares.”

The film hails from Mixtape VR, Scythia Films, Stellar Citizens, and Red Marrow. Producers are Nyla Innuksuk, The Witch producer Daniel Bekerman, Christopher Yurkovich, Alex Ordanis, Stacey Aglok Macdonald, and Ethan Lazar.

Here’s an exclusive look at the gorgeous poster art, which teases some of the Thing-esque invaders.
