[Rumour] Source Code From ‘Metal Gear’ Website Could Indicate ‘Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2’ Titles

After the reveal of what titles will be included in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, there’s obviously been speculation as to what will be included in the second volume. While it’s yet to be confirmed, thanks to Twitter user @Nitroid and sources from IGN, clues as to what could be included were found in the source code on the Metal Gear website. That also includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

On the History page for the Metal Gear website, there is a timeline with the entries for the series that you can click on for more information about that particular game. Currently, only the titles listed for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 are selectable. That would be Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

However, for the remaining titles on the timeline —Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker—the source code for the website indicates that there is placeholder code for these titles that can be swapped out for actual links.

Konami has obviously not announced what titles are included with Volume 2 as of yet, nor is this confirmation that these four titles are going to be included. However, it’s interesting to note that Video Games Chronicle reported early last week that according to Guns of the Patriots‘ assistant producer Ryan Payton, the game was able to run on an Xbox 360 without any issues. This does indicate the possibility that Metal Gear Solid 4 can be ported to the Xbox Series, as well as PC.

But until Konami responds to this revelation, this is all still considered a rumour.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is scheduled for release on October 24 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
