The country star re-teams with longtime collaborator Trey Fanjoy and digs out her old book of matches from the “Kerosene” video to bring latest single to life
Miranda Lambert has paired her new breakup anthem “Wranglers” with a music video that puts the song’s lyrics to life.
The visual, directed by longtime collaborator Trey Fanjoy, finds Lambert and pals consoling a friend in the aftermath of a breakup, with the group holding a ceremonial bonfire of the ex’s belongings and proving that, in fact, “Wranglers take forever to burn.”
The “Wranglers” video also calls back to Lambert’s breakout 2005 single “Kerosene,” with the singer using a replica can of kerosene and the same book of matches from that song’s video for the “Wranglers” visual. Keeping with the trip down memory lane, the video also co-stars Lambert’s childhood buddy Laci along with actress Elle Lamont, who previously appeared in Lambert’s “If I Was a Cowboy” video. Jessica Stroup and Christopher Backus — as the dude who loses his jeans — round out the cast.
“‘Wranglers’ is a classic tale of a woman taking her power back,” Lambert previously said of her latest single. “I think we can all identify with the character in this video, because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us. This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels; I am so proud to sing this song.”
“Wranglers” is expected to be the first single from Lambert’s upcoming 10th studio album, her first LP since 2022’s Palomino.
Lambert is currently on tour and delivered a standout performance at Stagecoach earlier this spring, with help from special guest Reba McEntire, who performed her own “Fancy” and two of Lambert’s songs, including “Gunpowder & Lead.”
