Jelly Roll Daydreams of Being a WWE Superstar in New SummerSlam Promo

The country star will supply the theme music for the card, set for Aug. 3 in Cleveland

Country artists from Hardy to Toby Keith have turned up in the squared circle over the years, but few look as at home in the ring as Jelly Roll. On Aug. 3, the burly, tattooed singer will make his way to Cleveland for the WWE’s annual warm-weather live event, SummerSlam. Ahead of the card, Jelly appears in a new hype video in which he daydreams about a second career as a WWE superstar.

When asked in an interview what he’s most hoping to see at SummerSlam, the “I Am Not Okay” vocalist envisions himself as a new champ, hoisting the belt above his head and waving off paparazzi. He also channels his inner Macho Man pitchman and snaps into a protein bar dubbed “Jelly Power.” As Triple H says in the dream sequence, “We’re in the Jelly Roll era.”

Jelly, who was recently slimed at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, is the face of the WWE’s ad campaign for SummerSlam 2024, which will feature Damian Priest taking on Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Other matches include Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship, Cody Rhodes against Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed WWE Championship title, and Bayley squaring off with Nia Jax with the WWE Women’s Championship belt up for grabs.

Two of Jelly Roll’s tracks will serve as theme songs for SummerSlam: “Dead End Road,” off the new Twisters soundtrack, and “Liar,” from his forthcoming new album. But Cleveland doesn’t mark Jelly’s first appearance in the WWE universe — back in November 2023, he got into an altercation with Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh at a WWE Raw card in Nashville.

SummerSlam 2024 streams live on Peacock on Aug. 3, beginning at 7 p.m. ET in the U.S. Worldwide viewers can watch on the WWE Network.
