Why Travis Kelce Isn’t at Taylor Swift’s First Weekend of Toronto Eras Tour Concerts

On Saturday night, Taylor Swift took to the stage in Toronto for the third time on this leg of her Eras Tour show through Canada. Her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was not in attendance for any of the trio of performances. The NFL star is scheduled to play a game with the Kansas City Chiefs against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.

The previous weekend, Swift was at the Chiefs’s home game at Arrowhead Stadium and was able to witness Kelce reach his 76th career touchdown catch from the VIP box. The singer has seen five of his games this season so far in between her own career obligations.

Kelce has made a number of appearances at Swift’s concerts, but the NFL has varying rules about travel before a game. Some teams have a curfew, or even require players to stay in a hotel as a group overnight, though generally not at home games, according to the Bleacher Report. While he may have wanted to buck the rules, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end does seem excited to play this weekend. Early Saturday, he shared a clip on Instagram with highlights from the win against the Denver Broncos.

“Too turnt to look back now,” Kelce captioned the post.

He was at her show in Indianapolis in early November, attending with Swift’s mom, Andrea Swift. On his New Heights podcast, Kelce spoke about trying to get to a concert before she finished her U.S. leg.

“I wanted to see Tay one more time before this thing got closed up,” he began, per Billboard. “I’ll tell you what, man. The American crowds, they did not disappoint. I heard that it was a lot more rowdy this time around, knowing she was coming back to stop through America one last time before the tour was over with, and I’ll tell you what, man, that thing was rocking. Absolutely rocking.”
