Lonnie Holley Announces New Album ‘Tonky’, Shares New Single ‘Protest With Love’

Lonnie Holley has announced a new album titled Tonky. The follow-up to 2023’s Oh Me Oh My features collaborations with Mary Lattimore, Angel Bat Dawid, Joe Minter and Open Mike Eagle, Alabaster de Plume, Isaac Brock, billy woods, Jesca Hoop, and Saul Williams. It’s out March 21 via Jagjaguwar. Today’s announcement comes with the release of the stirring new single ‘Protest With Love’, which you can hear below.

‘Protest With Love’ features frequent collaborator Jacknife Lee on bass, keys, synths, drums, programming, recorder, percussions, and vocals, as well as the Legendary Ingramettes on vocals, Kelly Pratt on horns and flutes, and Jordan Katz on horns. Speaking of the song, Holley simply urges listeners “let love be your weapon.”
