Dierks Bentley Is Terrorized by a Vengeful Ex in Outrageous ‘She Hates Me’ Video

Busted car windows, graffiti on the walls, and a spiked drink… Yes, Dierks Bentley, she clearly hates you. On Friday, the country star released the charmingly silly video for his new single “She Hates You,” in which he’s haunted by a crazy ex-girlfriend holding onto some deep hard feelings.

“We were goofing around with this idea before diving into our next ‘serious’ song, really just trying to make each other laugh. It just fell out, and I didn’t think much more about it after that,” Bentley said in a press release about writing the song. “But then it really came to life in the studio, and then my kids were requesting it and then I was getting texts from friends who had heard it, so I started taking it more seriously!”

The video splices clips of Bentley waking up in a ransacked home with images of his love interest destroying paintings on the walls, smashing dishes, and keying his car, as the singer comes to terms with her complete hatred. “She hates me/My hair, my truck, my dog, my music makes her crazy,” Bentley sings in the chorus. “She done been there, done that, ain’t coming back, no maybes.”

Bentley wrote the track, which interpolates Puddle of Mudd’s 2001 song “She Fucking Hates Me,” during a writing camp with Ashley Gorley, Ross Copperman, and Chase McGill. “I love any opportunity to laugh at myself – especially my younger self, and ‘She Hates Me’ definitely provides that,” said Bentley.

“She Hates Me” is Bentley’s first release of 2025 after dropping his version of Tom Petty’s “American Girl” last year. His last album, Gravel & Gold, arrived in 2023, featuring Ashley McBryde on “Cowboy Boots” and Billy Strings on “High Note.”
