Watch ‘Survivor’ Icon Parvati Shallow Go Hardcore Punk With Ben Katzman in Debut Song

Parvati Shallow, reality TV’s ‘Black Widow,’ has officially gone Black Flag.

In collaboration with Shred Maestro and fellow Survivor alum Ben Katzman, Shallow has released “Nice Girls Don’t Win,” a two-minute blast of bratty, bubblegum napalm that doubles as the unofficial theme song to her debut memoir of the same name, out now. The track was written, recorded, and filmed in a single afternoon while taping the premiere episode of Masters of Reality, Katzman’s Wayne’s World-inspired podcast, launching July 14.

In the video, Shallow leans out of a silver convertible, snarling, “Don’t be a fool, don’t be anybody’s wife,” while Katzman speed-picks in the backseat, a visual that lands somewhere between Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Love Island entrance, if the new hottie entering the villa was Marty Friedman.

Shallow’s memoir, Nice Girls Don’t Win: How I Burned It All Down to Claim My Power, charts her journey from “villain-edited” reality contestant to mindfulness teacher and empowerment advocate. Before laying down the lyrics, she and Katzman lit a prayer candle and saluted the rock gods. Though Shallow describes herself as more of a hip-hop fan, she loves The Darkness, No Doubt, and name-checked Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” as her boxing hype song while training for Survivor: Australia vs. the World.

The collaboration is familiar territory for Katzman, who has previously merged his music and reality TV worlds. His 2024 album Tears on the Beach, inspired by his time on Survivor, featured collaborations between indie rockers and reality stars—pairings that included Mannequin Pussy’s Marisa Dabice with Season 45 winner Dee Valladares, and Shannon Shaw alongside Coach Benjamin Wade, a.k.a. the Dragon Slayer, on trumpet.

Katzman will explore these intersections in greater detail on Masters of Reality, interviewing musicians and reality TV alums about creativity, catharsis, and unexpected reinventions. Meanwhile, Katzman is playing select U.S. dates this summer, opening for Def Leppard in July and performing at the Mile of Music fest in August, in addition to his work on the new Guerilla Toss record.
