Timothée Chalamet and EsDeeKid Put the Rumors to Rest With New 4 Raws Remix

Timothée Chalamet is still definitely not mysterious U.K. rapper EsDeeKid, but the two are now officially collaborators.

In an extremely casual, surprise drop on Friday, Dec. 19 — timed expertly with the release of Chalamet’s new movie,Marty Supreme— the actor hopped on a remix of EsDeeKid’s “4 Raws.” In his extremely serviceable, and very goofy and fun verse, Chalamet throws out outlandish bars like, “Got model bitches in Peckham/I’m Ryan Reynolds in Wrexham/I’m having fun just sexting,” and, “My life is an opera, look at the Oscars, look at the groupies, look at the movies.”

And lest you dare think he doesn’t know exactly what he’s doing, Chalamet opens his verse with a nod to his actual longstanding hip-hop alter-ego: Lil’ Timmy Tim.

EsDeeKid, who hails from Liverpool, has had an impressive rise in the past few years, thanks to breakout tracks like “Bally” and his debut album,Rebel, which arrived in June and featured hits like “LV Sandals” and “Phantom.” EsDeeKid, who always wears a balaclava, has been able to keep his true identity under wraps this whole time, which is how rumors started circulating in November that maybe he was actually Chalamet in disguise.

The evidence was, of course, scant, not that that hindered the speculation. Among the reasons posited were: Chalamet attended a concert by Fakemink, a frequent EsDeeKid collaborator; Chalamet likes rap music; and he would do something like fake a Scouse accent and pretend to be a U.K. drill rapper.

The rumors inevitably reached Chalamet, and the actor obviously leaned into them. When asked about it during a U.K. radio interview last month, Chalamet coyly responded, “I got no comment on that… All will be revealed in due time.” Which, in retrospect, now seems like a pretty obvious tease for the “4 Raws” remix.

Folks, Hollywood’s greatest press tour operator has done it again.
