The Jackson family tree is a complicated one, so we’ve broken down the lineage to help you remember while you’re watching the series.Warning:Dutton Ranch finale spoilers ahead.
The Jackson Family Tree Explained
Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) move to Rio Paloma, Texas, at the start ofDutton Ranch after a fire destroys their home in Dillon, Montana. They bought a highly sought-after ranch, the Edwards Ranch, and its famous herd of cattle that the family had been breeding for generations to much acclaim. Beulah wants the Edwards Ranch for herself to expand the 10-Petal Ranch, but the Edwards trusted the Dutton ranching family name more. Sadly, the cattle were infected with foot-and-mouth disease, forcing Rip to kill all of them. He and Beth started working for Beulah after the cattle disaster.
Like the Duttons, the Jackson family’s ranching history dates back to the 1800s. Running the 10-Petal with Beulah in the present day are her two sons, Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba) and Rob-Will (Jai Courtney). While Joaquin is Beulah’s eldest son, he is not her son by blood.
Who is Joaquin’s father inDutton Ranch?

It was revealed earlier in Season 1 that Joaquin’s father is a man named Mariano Reyes (Raoul Trujillo, above), who continues a business partnership with Beulah. The exact nature of their business dealings were revealed in the Dutton Ranch Season 1 finale on July 3. Before this, there were ominous phone calls between Mariano and Beulah implying a tense relationship between the two.
Mariano seems to be the only person who can control Beulah, and the finale revealed why.Joaquin ended Episode 8 calling his father for help after Beulah named the unpredictable and violent Rob-Will the ranch’s successor instead of him. She said it was because Rob-Will is blood and Joaquin isn’t.

Mariano makes his onscreen appearance in the present-day in the finale. Flashbacks in Episode 7 revealed a younger Mariano (played by Bobby Soto) and his history with Beulah (the younger version of whom is played by Rebeca Robles).
In those Episode 7 flashbacks, Mariano is a ranch hand for the 10-Petal who’s tasked with looking after heiress Beulah on a night out dancing with her friends. He talks about his young son, Joaquin, early in the episode, but we don’t meet Joaquin’s mother.
The night ends traumatically after Beulah sneaks away from Mariano’s monitoring with a man she met at the bar. When Mariano finds her at his place later, she reveals that she was sexually assaulted.
In Episode 6, Beulah said that Rob-Will’s father died in a flood before he was born. Fans previously theorized that Ed Harris‘ character, Everett McKinney, could be Rob-Will’s father given his on-again, off-again romantic relationship with Beulah. But the finale showed Beulah telling Everett the full truth about Rob-Will’s father. She was sexually assaulted by him, and she killed him for it. Mariano was forced to take the fall, forcing him to return to Mexico, and Beulah took Joaquin in as her son when Mariano needed help.
Rob-Will never knew the truth about his father. He and Joaquin had a confrontation in the Season 1 finale that changes everything for the Jackson family.
Who is Oreana’s mother inDutton Ranch?
Lauren Smith/Paramount+
Joaquin doesn’t have any children that we know of in the show so far, but he’s uncle to Rob-Will’s daughter, Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind).
Oreana has a complicated relationship with her father, but an even more complicated one with grandma Beulah. The show hasn’t revealed the identity of Oreana’s mother, nor has it stated if she’s even alive.
Oreana learned that she’s pregnant with Carter’s (Finn Little) baby in the finale, and she witnessed the traumatic event involving her father in her final scenes of the season. Lind breaks down Oreana’s story in the Dutton Ranchfinale here.
