What To Know

  • Kimberly Williams-Paisley honored her late mother, Linda, to commemorate the end ofAlzheimer’s Awareness Month.
  • Linda died at the age of 73 in November 2016 following a long bout with dementia.
  • Williams-Paisley raised awareness for this year’s Dance Party to End ALZ charity event, a fundraiser she founded in 2017.

Kimberly Williams-Paisley marked the end of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month by paying tribute to her late mother, Linda Williams.

“June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a disease that took our mom ten years ago,” the 9-1-1: Nashville actress wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 30. “Research shows that when you exercise your heart, you exercise your brain, and so we dance, every chance we get.”

Linda died at the age of 73 in November 2016 following a long bout with dementia. Her mother’s health struggles led Williams-Paisley to become an advocate for dementia and Alzheimer’s awareness. In 2017, she created the Dance Party to End ALZ charity benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association.

“I started a Dance Party years ago to raise money for much needed research, and thankfully my sister @ashleywilliamsandcompany and @nikdeloach took up the mantle when I had to step down to focus on our nonprofit @thestore_nashville,” she continued. “Guess what?? Ash and Niki made it even more fun!! The Dance Party has funded research that shows the importance of quality sleep on brain health, so this year’s theme (set for September 13th in LA) is PJs! How fun and easy is that!?? Come dance with us!”

Williams-Paisley ended her post by encouraging her followers to visit alz.org/danceparty for more information, including how to purchase tickets and donate to the organization.

Fans shared their appreciation for Williams-Paisley’s dementia and Alzheimer’s awareness work in the post’s comments. “This is AWESOME! I lost my Mom 5 years ago to Alzheimer’s and while it’s hard, I also try to find the joys in life and better my health to hopefully slow it down. Keep dancing! I’ll join yall,” one user wrote. Another added, “Love this! Five years into caring for my single momma with Alzheimer’s. She’s in a 100+ person dementia choir in Austin. Music is magic.”

Someone else shared, “My mom died 2 1/2 years ago from this disease. Thank you for raising awareness!” A different person posted, “And it’s such a blast! We love being a part of it. Having just lost my dad to Alzheimer’s, this year’s dance party will mean more than ever. My entire family loves to break out into random dance parties, especially my dad.” A separate commenter stated, “Absolutely love this! Finding joy in the fight against Alzheimer’s at every opportunity.”

On Wednesday, July 1, Williams-Paisley reacted to Danny Glover announcing his Alzheimer’s diagnosis. The actor broke the news during Wednesday’s episode of Today, revealing he was diagnosed with the disease back in 2023.

“I worked with Danny on a movie and found him to be so lovely,” Williams-Paisley wrote via her Instagram Story. “Sharing a diagnosis like this is brave and really helpful to raise awareness. Sending him and his family my love!” (The pair starred together in the 2017 Hallmark movie The Christmas Train.)
