A small, diverse group of people with irrational fears, dark thoughts, and deep traumas meets every Sunday afternoon at a modest suburban community center. They call themselves “Fear Anonymous,” viewing the circular arrangement of chairs as a symbol of false trust.
The group is led by Jack Miller, an “affable but emotionally repressed moderator” who attempts to keep the sessions structured and supportive.
Instead of conventional therapeutic methods, participants take turns sharing deeply personal, often horrifying stories about what haunts them, which can include tales of spirits, curses, conspiracies, and betrayal. This process is meant to be a form of catharsis or validation.
