Review:
Traumatika was directed by Pierre Tsigaridis, and written by Pierre, and Maxine Rancon. Let’s jump to 2003, Pasadena, California. We meet Mikey (Ranen Navat), and Mikey is calling the police because, “mommy is a monster.” AND MIKEY IS NOT JOKING. The amazingly talented Rebekah Kennedy portrays Abigail, and will most likely be part of a few nightmares that you have or the reason that you cannot run up and down your basement stairs without thinking a monster might pop out from under the stairs. She is excellent in Traumatika. The voices, the movements, it’s wild.
When someone gets on all fours, and starts running towards you, YOU haul ass. The film is shot in a way that makes it creepier. Traumatika also stars: Emily Goss, AJ Bowen, Sean O’Bryan, Susan Gayle, Sean Whalen… speaking of under the stairs, makes my heart smile.
We also have Alondra Andrade, Paxton Carville, William Gabriel Grier, Marina Parodi, Naomi Petit, Brahim Rachiki, Maxine Rancon, Raquel Rojas, Julien Marlon Samani, and Niketta Scott. Well, the police arrived… correction, one police officer. Maybe he watched, The Exorcism of Emily Rose or The Exorcist before this stop. I appreciate the possession, and demon-related films but there have been times that some odd stuff has happened while watching these films. Well, Sheriff Miller (AJ Bowen) discovered something is indeed wrong at this house.
NO JUMP SCARES for the Sheriff, he is not “entitled to one jump scare” during spooky season. Don’t go in the basement. WHY? Why would you do that? Okay, now it’s one year earlier. It’s an interesting story. The cinematography is appreciated. This film has some disturbing moments that show you what horror can do. The effect it can have.
John Reed (Sean O’Bryan) has the statue from the beginning of the film. Meanwhile, we have Sean Whalen portraying Steve. He’s trying to save John. Maxime Rancon portrays Volpaazu. The childhood trauma aspect makes you question are these people possessed in some way or are they just awful humans. Traumatika is disturbing in so many ways. Horror has always taken on controversial topics. The demon has found a new host.
They go back and forth in time to share what has happened. It shows the past, and where the demon came from. They do a great job with cinematography, special effects, and the cast is excellent.
