First Look at ‘REC’ Co-Director Paco Plaza’s Chilling ‘Grandmother’

Hailing out of Spain, Paco Plaza is back with his next horror offering, Grandmother (La Abuela), which seems to be yet another in a long line of elderly-themed horror alongside films like The Taking of Deborah Logan, Dementia, and the more recent Relic.

In the film, “Susana (Almudena Amor) must leave her life working as a model in Paris and return home to Madrid after she learns that her grandmother Pilar (Vera Valdez) – who raised her as her own after her parents died – has had a cerebral hemorrhage.

“Upon returning home, Susana attempts to find a long-term caretaker for Pilar, but what should be just a few days ends up becoming a genuine nightmare after Susana notices Pilar start to act strangely.”

Plaza is the co-director of masterpieces REC and [REC] 2, as well as the solo filmmaker behind [REC] 3: Genesis and the popular Verónica.

Thanks to Fabien for sending over the first images. The film is being distributed internationally by Sony Pictures.
