Review: ‘Living With Chucky’ Is A Love Letter To Horror’s Greatest Killer Doll

It was in 1988 that people were first introduced to a killer possessed doll named “Chucky” in a series of horror films titled ‘Childs Play’. The films were a box office hit that put “Chucky” in the same stratosphere as Freddy and Jason in the horror universe. In the documentary “Living With Chucky,” written and directed by Kyra Elise Gardner, we not only get to learn about the history of Chucky, but also see archival footage and the bonds that were created, and spanned over 30 years.

“Living with Chucky” takes an in depth look at the groundbreaking Child’s Play franchise from the perspective of a filmmaker who grew up within it. Featuring interviews with cast and crew such as Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, creator Don Mancini, and much more, this personal film recounts the dedication, creativity and sacrifice that went into making the franchise and its long-lasting impact on the horror community.

For fans of the horror genre like myself you will love this documentary. “Living with Chucky” is a thoughtful study of how filmmaking brings people together.

“Living With Chucky” is available on all major digital platforms in Australia from April 26TH
